Fall Welcomes Back Community Outreach and Meetings

A Message from Board President Ed Van Ness

The Fall season is a special time of the year in Sun City: lovely cool mornings, our ‘Snow Bird’ friends return, and SCHOA meetings that help connect and support our community start up again.

Beginning in September, SCHOA will host a monthly Roads and Safety Committee meeting that is a unique opportunity for residents to hear updates from public safety officials – and also provide their input to these leaders. Did you know that SCHOA has been hosting these meetings since before 2000?

It is just one of the many ways that SCHOA works to empower and engage our community. Where else can you address a Fire Chief, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office leaders, the Sun City Posse, the PRIDES community group, Maricopa County Department of Transportation – and more, about your concerns about Roads and Safety?

As an advocate for Sun City, it is important for us to host these meetings which allow residents to share their concerns – but also give community leaders a chance to explain why decisions are made, always with the community’s safety in mind. This committee meets monthly for discussion and resolution on the third Wednesday of each month at 10:00am at SCHOA.

These meetings are a great reason to be a member of SCHOA, and support all of our ongoing efforts to advocate on behalf of our community. At the last Roads and Safety meeting we held before Summer break, I asked all attendees to raise their hands if they were members, just to test the waters. If you cannot raise your hand to that question, I encourage you to consider the value of a SCHOA membership.

So much of what SCHOA does is to protect Sun City, and we need your support! Learn about all the advantages of being a member, and sign up for only $25 a year per household, right here – https://suncityhoa.org/membership.
