Benefits of Becoming a SCHOA Member

 As you likely know, while compliance with the Sun City CC&Rs is mandatory for all, membership in the Home Owners Association is voluntary. But what you may not realize is that an annual fee for membership of only $15.00 equates to just $.04 a day to help maintain Sun City as the best active lifestyle retirement community in the world. And importantly, the more members we have, the more we can afford to do for Sun City, and everyone wins! So what do you get for your dues? They provide for all of the following:

First, member access to free products and services. All of the following are available to SCHOA members:

• Free notarizations of important legal documents
• Free Sun City maps updated annually
• Free copies of member plot plans, a requirement for most building permits (non-members pay $15.00)
• Free copy of the annual Sun City Phone Directory a unique publication that includes residents’ home towns and former occupations
• Free resale inspections
• Free mediation of homeowner disputes
• Free personal representation with regard to issues of transportation, government affairs, environmental concerns, and public and community relations
• Free legal assistance, provided through Legal Aid at Olive Branch Senior Center
• Ability to meet State Representatives monthly
• Eligibility in the SCHOA Financial Assistance Program

Second, access to products/services from major businesses and retailers.  SCHOA negotiates with major businesses who have offices and/or stores in or near Sun City on behalf of all active members of the Sun City Home Owners Association.  Once you are an active member, you have access to their services and in many cases, exclusive offers from these companies, our corporate sponsors.

Third, member referrals to SCHOA approved vendors and service providers. Take the guesswork out of finding qualified, trustworthy vendors and/or service providers to handle everything from fixing a leak to remodeling your home to healthcare to transportation and much, much more!  SCHOA maintains a database of preferred quality service providers available for members use only. To ensure these companies provide the highest level of service to Sun City homeowners, SCHOA conducts a background check on all providers in the database including reference verification, Better Business Bureau filings, and a review of licenses registered with the Arizona Registrar of Vendors. In addition, since the database is updated weekly, SCHOA includes homeowner feedback as to the quality of service provided so that only the best providers are retained for member use. Fourth, funding for maintaining fair and equitable compliance with the CC&Rs to help keep Sun City peaceful and beautiful!  SCHOA Compliance is processing an unprecedented number of complaints for violations of Deed Restrictions or CC&Rs, e.g., messy yards, illegal RV parking, barking dogs, etc., and sufficient funding is needed to continue to address these infractions.  As a SCHOA member, your dues financially support this initiative, an initiative that helps increase your property value, keeps the community looking great, and maintains Sun City as the premier retirement destination in North America.

Fifth, your ability to shape the direction of Sun City.  Let your voice be heard! As a member of SCHOA, you are eligible to vote for members of the Board of Directors, to cast your ballot for major initiatives requiring a public vote, to participate on committees that shape the future of the community, and to participate in other SCHOA special events.
